TEACH ENGLISH
--Dr P.P. Job
English is an international language today. Since India was under the British, a good number of Indians hated English and it may be natural. Today things have changed. Even France and China, who opposed the British, now give priority for this language and started teaching English from Kindergarten. European Parliament has accepted English as their main language. America had adopted English as their National language.
The language of E-mail, Computer and Electronic Library is in English. “An English Medium Education is a tremendous aspiration across the country. Politicians of all linguistic colours from Hindi Chauvinists to Marathi warriors all send their children to the best English-medium schools. And now there is a creeping realization that being able to communicate in good English provides a cutting edge in politics too.” Hindustan Times wrote 09.12.2009.
The I.I.T. educated Mr. Jairam Ramesh, our Environment & Forests Minister has become ‘Mr. Green India’ specially his speech in Copenhagen summit (Climate Change Debate). The Harvard Business School educated Home Minister Mr. P. Chidambaram has already been consolidating his image as ‘Mr. Strong India’. The St. Stephen’s College educated Human Resource Development Minister Mr. Kapil Sibal has become ‘Mr. Educate India’. The Oxford educated Minority Affairs Minister Mr. Salman Khurshid has known as ‘Mr. United India’. After all what do Jairam Ramesh, Chidambaram, Sibal & Khurshid have in common? All hail from the educated English speaking elite, all have attended Western Educational Institutions, all are extremely good talkers for the Mass Media.
If I have travelled 129 Nations all over the world, one of the reasons is I can speak English. Politicians send their children to English Medium School and encourage others to study local language of the State in several States of India. India is a museum of languages. English is the only language, which can bring unity in diversity in India. When the Government of India imposed Hindi as National Language, the then Ruling Congress Party lost their political grip in Tamil Nadu.
If your children are educated in a English medium school now, I assure you that within ten years they will be great leaders of India and they will easily posses great positions.
Education is always a great tool for evangelism. I can say that every evangelist in India should start at least an English Medium Kindergarten School in his village. Evangelism means you bring somebody from darkness to light. Jesus is Light. Ignorance, myths, narrow mindness, blackmailing and extortion of money are all part of darkness. Most of the Bible literature is in English. One of the British men told me “the British started the Calcutta College where every subject was taught in English. The only foolish mistake the British made was that they started the Calcutta College”. Indian independent movement started from Calcutta College. Educate your children in English language. Let your children learn how to read, write and speak English and they will be preachers of the Gospel. Invest your money in an English medium school.
In Michael Job Centre, Morning Prayer begins at 5.30 a.m. Children lead the service. You will enjoy when students in 4th standard onwards bring the powerful Gospel Messages. Seena, a IV standard student is a great speaker in English at Michael Job Centre. She is only 11 years old. She reads more books than a student in Government College. One day all 501 girls will go to different parts of India with the Gospel of Jesus even some of them will be in Indian Parliament. I may not be on earth to see this adventure; you who are young readers will praise God for this miracle.
Seena came to Michael Job Centre in 2007 from Manipur. She is 11 years and is studying in class IV.
She invited Jesus into her heart as Lord & Saviour on 24th February 2009, and ever since she is walking with the Lord, with overflowing joy in her heart.
She starts her day at 4:45 a.m. by thanking God for all His benefits, and soon after that she is in Chapel at 5:30 a.m.for the daily morning worship. She is a very good example to all her friends.
She conducts prayer meetings with the junior girls and has also preached the Word of God to them on several occasions. She loves the Lord very much, and also delights to be in His presence.
During these years at Michael Job Centre, she has been inspired and mentored by uncle Job and aunty Andrea. Seena is our youngest preacher at the Michael Job Centre. She has preached the Word to us on Sunday, on various topics like the Rapture, God’s love and Salvation.
CHRISTMAS AT MICHAEL JOB CENTRE
The daughters of Dr. Job at the Michael Job Institutions ended their half yearly examinations on Wednesday 16th December at 4 p.m. They enjoyed the Christmas Celebrations which lasted for many days.
On the morning of 17th December Mr. Vivek Savkur, one of our Board members came from Canada to be our Chief Guest during the Celebrations. He distributed Christmas gifts, uniforms, new dresses, shoes, socks and tie to our children at the Cross Platform at the Michael Job Centre.
After the distribution of the gifts, the children marched to the Jordan Foundation Stadium in single file to the beat of a colorful band which led the procession. The Annual Sports Day was declared open with a bang! Many of the children participated in the various events. Even the staff of the Michael Job Institutions took part in some of the events. It was quite hilarious!
In the evening at 7:30 pm we hoisted a gigantic, multicolour star on the flag pole at the cross platform with many colourful lights lit on trees in the background. It truly looked like a mini fairyland. We also had an enjoyable cultural evening.
Mr. Vivek Savkur and Dr. P.P. Job, distributing Christmas gifts (one year’s dresses to our daughters).
On 18th December we held our Annual X’mas party. Mr. Vivek Savkur, our chief guest at the function, sponsored the best cake, ‘Black Forest’ to everyone. Many eminent people from different religious backgrounds attended. Mr. Sakinder Bashir an eminent lawyer in Coimbatore, Mr. Rafi a Muslim leader, and Mr. Ramasamy a Hindu leader, all came and spoke supporting our children and extending their moral support.
On Sunday 20th December Mr. C.T. Thomas, Regional Manager of Warehousing Corporation, Bangalore came with his family and sponsored the lunch. He also brought special cakes from Bangalore.
On the evening of 24th December we had a Candle Light procession from Michael Job University Building to Cross Platform when everyone held a candle in their hands. This was followed by Ice Cream and the cultural program ended with fireworks.
Friday 25th December we had three services. Our usual Worship was held at 5:30 a.m. One at 10:00 a.m. when the children wore their new colourful dresses. Seventeen beautifully dressed girls stood on the dais to lead the Worship. The evening Worship was conducted at 7:00 pm.
From our readers to Dr Job.: Joseph Antony: I do not think any human can do a better service than what you have taken up to do. I cannot quote Bible Verse references but I have remembered some of them to be a guide for my life. Our Saviour has clearly defined what is religion in one of the Gospels. I remember to have read ‘taking care of widows and orphans’ is our religion. Jesus is not the Saviour for only the so called Christians, He is also the Saviour for humanity. You are picking from the bottom of the pit to serve them. I am pretty convinced His Light shall lead us. Probably you are worried about the 501+ lives pivoted and burdened on to your shoulders. Do not worry. Be reminded that you are only a channel. Very few are selected to be the channels. You can be proud and grateful that you are a wide and deep channel.
S.E. Muthukumar: Indeed your efforts are not only helpful but far fetching in a sphere, where, as far as I know, no one appeared to have done anything remarkable and appreciable, except a very few, that too selflessly. It is very evident that the true love of Christ is manifested in all you do – in everything. God, our Mighty God bless you and your endeavour.
