“Not you but God”
(Christian Attitude)

by Dr P.P. Job

When we face difficulties, sickness, false accusations or the loss of our dear ones, we always react negatively by saying it is the devil, Satan. We also go to the extreme and curse and shout.
Let us study the first Chapter of the Book of Job. The book begins with Satan and God. Job says that the Sabeans came and took away his horse, the lightening killed his oxen, the Chaldeans took away all his camels. Wild winds killed his sons and daughters. The chapter ends by saying “the Lord gave and the Lord hath taken away.”
We see that his attitude and his reaction have changed in the end. He is not accusing Satan, the Sabeans, lightening, the Chaldeans or the wild winds. This is a higher standard of Christian maturity. Do not react immediately. Wait and pray. God is in control. In my experience, God has never given me pain without a purpose, and God always takes the glory in the end. It is very difficult to wait. Whenever I get angry with somebody, I will write a letter but I will not post it immediately. After five days, I read the same letter and tear it up. Mature Christians will not react.
If you read the 45th Chapter of Genesis verse 8 Joseph says “not you but God.” Joseph had undergone terrible agony due to the jealousy of his own brothers. Read Joseph’s story in the previous chapters. Finally the brothers who tried to kill him are standing in front of him. He should have punished them. But he said, “…not you but my God.”
King Saul wanted to kill David because of jealousy. One day David saw King Saul sleeping in a cave. He should have killed Saul. But he did not. To prove that he could have killed him, he cut a piece of Saul’s garment.
Do not react. Wait, God is in control. “Not you but God.” This is the real Christian attitude when your Christian brother or your own brother becomes your enemy.

ORPHANS LED THE WORLD

Years ago, I had read a book entitled ‘Orphans led the World’. Mohammad to Mother Teresa, among whom many orphans became religious leaders. Hitler to Sadam Hussein, many orphans became political leaders. Now I realize there are many orphans in Michael Job Centre who will lead the world. Every year our daughters create history. Last year a girl was the top gold medalist for her M.Ed. (Master of Education) in the prestigious Bharathiar University in India (photo and details were published in July & August issues of Tortured for Christ) and this year also another girl won the 3rd Rank in the same University for her Masters Degree in Zoology. See front page.

Our Junior Football Team defeated all other teams in the
Sulur Sports Festival. Our students received the top prizes in sports.

Your investment for the daughters of Michael Job Centre will bring much fruit.

Heavy persecution of Christians
in India spreads nationally

There seems to be no end in sight to the heavy persecution against Christians in India. Recent attacks have taken place in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Maharashtra — clear indication that the violence is spreading further than just Orissa, reports MNN.

Two weeks ago, Gospel for Asia missionary Raju was assaulted in Uttar Pradesh on his way home from a visit with fellow Christians. Extremists severely beat Raju, kicking him repeatedly until he lost consciousness. Raju was unconscious for five hours afterward and unable to speak for a long time. He is now recovering from a broken hand and many facial injuries.
Of course, the reason for Raju’s victimization was not that he was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. Raju’s church has been blessed by the Lord and has grown to over 150 members. Many Hindu extremists are not happy with Raju’s dedication to his ministry and they clearly found a way to show it.
Other GFA missionaries have also served as prey for extremists. In Delhi, Bro. Vikram, who leads a church of 80 other believers, was recently warned by death threats to put an end to his worship services. Bible College students in Maharashtra have been arrested and threatened for handing out tracts as well, accused of forcing Christianity on passers-by.
Although this violence had been seemingly confined to the state of Orissa in past weeks, now it is making headway throughout the rest of the country.

SEVERE PERSECUTION IN CHINA

Brother M. Alimujiang, a strong pastor is in prison for the last 2 years in Xinjiang, China. He was a Muslim and became a Christian. Due to his inspiring activities, the government has imprisoned him. Please pray for his release.

Pastor attacked
by Bajrang Dal members,
held at Police Station, Karnataka

Karnataka state is ruled by BJP (a Hindu political party). The church is growing rapidly in this state. Persecution is also severe due to the growth of the church. Every day Christians are persecuted somewhere in the state. Believers are very strong in their faith. Most of them come from low caste religion. Christian organizations help them to grow financially and to have a status in the society.
Pastor Prakash was attacked by 25 Bajrang Dal members led by a man named Pratap. The police who were under the government, arrested the Christian pastor and imprisoned him and he is still in police custody. The pastor has been ministering for the last 10 years at the Beracah Church in Tarabanhalli, Hoskote Taluk, Bangalore. The church is attended by 80 believers. The pastor’s entire family, consisting of his wife and two daughters, have been involved in the ministry.
